Kline Praises House Passage of Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act

H.R. 3094 Reins in Activist NRLB and Reaffirms Long-Standing Workforce Protections

The U.S. House of Representatives today approved a key component of the House Republican Plan for America's Job Creators.

The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act (H.R.3094), introduced by House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN), will rein in the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) activist agenda and set in law protections workers and employers have long enjoyed. The bill passed the House in a vote of 235 to 188.

"Today, the House of Representatives took a critical step to defend the rights of workers and employers," said Chairman Kline. "The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act is a responsible effort to protect employers’ free speech and defend workers’ free choice. I am pleased H.R. 3094 received the bipartisan support it deserves.

“However, it is deeply unfortunate that on the same day the House of Representatives approved this legislation to help provide some much-needed certainty in our workplaces, President Obama’s NLRB continued advancing its controversial ambush elections scheme. The board seems utterly determined to finalize this flawed proposal, regardless of the damage to the integrity of the board and our workplaces. Rest assured, we in Congress will continue to use every tool at our disposal to safeguard the rights of workers and employers.”
