On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed with bipartisan support legislation to protect employers' free speech and workers' free choice in a union election. The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act (H.R. 3094) rolls back the Obama National Labor Relations Board's devastating ambush election scheme and preserves employee freedom in the workplace. The legislation is a key component of the House Republican jobs agenda that will remove regulatory roadblocks to job creation. The bill, sponsored by Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.), chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, passed the chamber 235-188. Only six Democrats voted for it, while eight Republicans voted against it. ... "The board seems utterly determined to finalize this flawed proposal, regardless of the damage to the integrity of the board and our workplaces," he said. "The board's scheme isn't about modernizing the election process," said Minnesota Rep. John Kline, GOP chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
