Kline Statement on Proposed Changes to Head Start Program

House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services proposed a number of regulatory changes to the Head Start program:

Improving Head Start remains a leading priority for this committee. Earlier this year, we began working to reform the program to help ensure it serves the best interests of low-income children and families, as well as taxpayers. The law authorizing this vital program expired nearly three years ago. I hope the department will support our efforts to make lasting reforms in the law that will ensure our investment in Head Start delivers on its promise to help prepare children to succeed in school and life.
