Rep. Virginia Foxx, chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, issued the following joint statement on the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report on the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The report confirms that the AHCA further lowers premiums, reduces the deficit, and delivers tax relief for the American people.

The American people desperately need relief from a failed health care law that has increased costs, taken away choices, destroyed jobs, and burdened small businesses. Republicans are committed to delivering that relief. As this report shows, the American Health Care Act represents an important step toward lowering health care premiums, easing the burden on hardworking taxpayers, and putting people back in control of their health care.

It is important to remember that the AHCA is just one step in a broader effort to help every American access high-quality, affordable health care coverage. For example, the House has also passed the Small Business Health Fairness Act to make it easier for small businesses to provide affordable health care coverage to their employees. As we continue on this rescue mission, it is our hope the Senate will take up these positive reforms that will empower working families with lower health care costs and more choices.
