WASHINGTON, D.C. | November 23, 2016
House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) today issued the following statement in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Betsy DeVos to become the next Secretary of Education:
Betsy DeVos has been a tireless advocate for ensuring every child has an opportunity to receive an excellent education and every parent has the ability to do what's right for his or her child. She would be a vital ally as Congress works to strengthen the nation's higher education system and ensure recent reforms to improve K-12 education are implemented in a way that reflects the letter and intent of the law. I have no doubt the Senate will thoroughly and swiftly vet her nomination so she can begin the important work that lies ahead.
