U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) released the following statement today after Terence Flynn announced he would resign as a member of the National Labor Relations Board effective July 24, 2012. Mr. Flynn joined the board on January 9, 2012 after receiving an unconstitutional recess appointment by President Obama. 

“As I have said from the beginning, this unfortunate matter underscores the critical importance of the constitutional confirmation process. The American people have a right to vet their public officials, and any political scheme denying them that right can lead to devastating consequences. In recent years, the board has recklessly pursued a partisan agenda that has left it increasingly polarized and dysfunctional. It is my sincere hope that recent events will instill in the board a new sense of bipartisan cooperation and a commitment to promoting the best interests of workers and employers.”
