Small Business Owners Cite Cost of Health Insurance, Economic Uncertainty As Top Problems

A study released today by the National Federation of Independent Business reveals that the cost of health insurance and economic uncertainty are the most significant problems facing small business owners.

The concerns expressed by the nation’s leading job creators are hardly surprising. Small businesses have experienced a 103% rise in health insurance costs in the last decade, greatly diminishing their ability to provide new employment opportunities for struggling workers. Additionally, a report out today by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicts the country could fall into a recession if steps aren’t taken to prevent looming tax hikes and enact much-needed fiscal reforms.

An ongoing jobs crisis is hurting millions of families, yet Democrats in Washington continue to make the problem worse. Not only are they holding our economy hostage in favor of higher taxes on small businesses and working families, Democrats also continue to defend their failed, multi-trillion dollar government-run health care law. Republicans, meanwhile, recognize that job creation remains the top priority for the American people. That is why the House of Representatives has taken action to:
