Moving in the Right Direction

Backing for the bipartisan, bicameral Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) continues to grow. Key stakeholders in the nation’s job training system praise the proposal, which reforms the outdated  policies by eliminating redundant programs, increasing flexibility to local workforce development leaders, and providing job-creators a greater role in ensuring workers learn the skills needed in today’s economy.

In an op-ed published in The Hill, Dan Brodbeck, national chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors writes:

[WIOA]… gives local small-business leaders a direct role in developing job-training programs, allowing them to use their knowledge of the local economy to help develop programs that best fit their communities and the economy as a whole. Improved collaboration between industry and training program providers is essential — after all, who knows the employment needs of the industry better than the industry itself?

House Republicans remain committed to helping Americans get back to work and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is one part of this important effort.
