House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-MN) today issued the following statement in response to the National Labor Relations Board’s decision to not assert jurisdiction in the Northwestern University football players case:

This is a welcome decision and one that puts the interests of students above those of Big Labor. Another outcome would have made it harder for students to access a quality education, created confusion for academic institutions across the country, and ended college athletics as we know it. I am pleased cooler heads prevailed in this case and hope this is the final word on this misguided idea. The nation would be well served if the board adopted the same kind of bipartisan, commonsense approach to other important matters facing the American people.
