Foxx Statement on December Jobs Report

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released unemployment data for December 2016:

After eight years of failed policies and a sluggish economy, Americans are eager to move in a better direction. A new Congress and new administration mark a new beginning for this great country. We have an historic opportunity to achieve meaningful reforms and the positive results hardworking men and women desperately need.

Already, House Republicans have passed important reforms to rein in an onslaught of regulations, and this is just the start of the work that lies ahead. We are committed to delivering relief from a failed health care law, removing job-crushing red tape, and expanding opportunities for students to learn and for workers to climb the economic ladder. It is time to provide
A Better Way forward for the American people, and that is precisely what Republicans intend to do.
