U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) and Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Chairman Phil Roe today issued the following joint statement commending the federal District Court for the District of Columbia for striking down a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) scheme that would have punished employers for failing to post a biased notice of workers’ labor rights:

“Time and again, the Obama NLRB has tried to manipulate federal labor law in favor of its union allies. One clear example is the board’s radical poster scheme. As a result of the board’s regulatory overreach, virtually every private employer across the country faced punitive consequences if they failed to hang a vague and biased poster in the workplace. Today’s decision by a federal district court is a welcome development in the fight to rein in the activist NLRB.

“While the court’s decision removes the threat of consequences, it still allows the board to spread its skewed view of employee rights to workplaces across the country. We fear this leaves a degree of uncertainty hanging over our nation’s workers and job-creators. We urge the Obama labor board to abandon this misguided effort entirely and instead focus on enforcing the laws written by the people’s elected representatives.”
