Kline, Roe Statements on Anniversary of President Obama’s Health Care Law

U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) and Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Chairman Phil Roe (R-TN) released the following statements marking the two-year anniversary of President Obama signing his health care reform plan into law:

“Two years ago, President Obama sent the nation down a costly path of bureaucracy and broken promises,” said Chairman Kline. “Job crushing mandates, higher costs for families, and more government control that threatens the health care of millions of individuals is the growing legacy of this flawed law. America’s families shouldn’t have to fear losing their health care, and employers cannot afford a government-run scheme that makes it even more difficult to create jobs. The House of Representatives has already taken action to repeal ObamaCare and it is time for Democrats in Washington to side with the American people by joining that effort. We will continue to do the work we were sent here to do until the threat of the health care law is removed once and for all.”

“As we reflect on the two year anniversary of passage of the president’s health care law,” said Rep. Roe, “the American people see its failure to address the cost crisis in our health care system and have a better understanding of the long-lasting negative impact it will have on our federal budget. The health care law has created uncertainty for families, seniors and small businesses through new burdensome regulations, rising premiums, and the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). This anniversary is a reminder that Congress must repeal the health care law at the request of the American people, and pass meaningful health care reform that will bring down the high costs in our health care system and get rid of waste, without costing jobs and compromising care.”
