Foxx, Walberg on Supreme Court’s Janus Decision: “…a victory for the American workforce.”

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued its ruling in favor of the individual freedom of public sector employees in Janus v. AFSCME today:

Tim Walberg (R-MI), chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued its ruling in favor of the individual freedom of public sector employees in Janus v. AFSCME today:

“The Supreme Court’s ruling that millions of public sector employees will no longer have to financially support an organization they disagree with, just to keep their jobs, is a victory for free speech and a victory for the American workforce. We welcome this ruling as affirmation of one of the most fundamental American values."

BACKGROUND: The Committee on Education and the Workforce holds jurisdiction over issues under National Labor Relations Act, which protects the rights of most private sector employees to associate or disassociate from labor unions.
