Congressional Democrats are reportedly preparing to introduce their misnamed Employee Free Choice Act tomorrow, setting in motion a legislative gambit that would effectively eliminate secret ballots in the workplace. This anti-worker plan has already drawn the ire of editorial writers, economists, and the American people. Now, on what looks to be the eve of the bill’s formal introduction in Congress, one of President Barack Obama’s top economic backers has weighed in to oppose the measure as well. Warren Buffett, a prominent investor and supporter of the President’s economic policies, spoke out this morning on CNBC’s Squawk Box against the anti-worker plan:
“…I think the secret ballot’s pretty important in the country … I’m against card check to make a perfectly flat statement…” With opposition lining up from across the political spectrum, Democrats and the special interest groups clamoring for this undemocratic legislation seem to be facing an uphill battle as they prepare to formally introduce a bill that would take away workers’ rights and put hundreds of thousands of American jobs at risk. # # # |
