Rep. John Kline (R-MN), the top Republican on the U.S. House Education and Labor Committee, issued the following statement today in response to the Obama Administration’s claims about job creation resulting from the so-called economic stimulus package enacted earlier this year: 

“The Administration’s rosy projections of jobs ‘saved or created’ by their near-trillion dollar government spending spree belie the harsh reality that more than three million jobs have been lost this year. As the national unemployment rate approaches double digits, the Administration’s assurances that the jobless rate would remain below eight percent ring hollow. The simple truth is that the Democrats’ flawed stimulus plan has not worked. Indeed it has served little purpose but to drive up our deficit and grow the size of government – and once again, our children and grandchildren will be left holding the bill.”
