Kline Supports Expanding Education Opportunities for D.C. Students

U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) today urged his colleagues to join him in supporting the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) Act (H.R. 471). The SOAR Act would reauthorize the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program (D.C. OSP), a bipartisan initiative that helps low-income students in the nation’s capital obtain a scholarship to attend a private school of their parents’ choice.

“As we work to craft targeted reforms, we must support existing education programs that improve student achievement,” Chairman Kline said. “The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program is one such initiative with a proven track record of success. All parents should be empowered to decide what school is best for their child. A quality education should not be a luxury available only to those who can afford it.”
