***MEDIA ADVISORY*** TOMORROW: Committee to Mark Up the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference ActH.R. 2587 will prevent NLRB from dictating location of American jobs
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
July 20, 2011
On Thursday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m., the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Rep. John Kline (R-MN), will hold a markup of the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587). The markup will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
On April 20, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) filed a complaint against The Boeing Company demanding it transfer work from South Carolina to Washington. If successful, the NLRB’s action will have a chilling effect on job creators looking to expand their businesses in the United States. The NLRB has more than a dozen remedies at its disposal to hold employers accountable for unlawful labor practices. The Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act will amend the National Labor Relations Act to prohibit the NLRB from dictating where a private business can and cannot locate jobs in the United States. Further, upon enactment, the limitation on the NLRB’s authority will apply to all cases that have not reached final adjudication before the board.
