Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, today issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration's Title IX action:
No administration should circumvent the law to advance its own political agenda, but that's exactly what the Obama administration did with this so-called guidance. Schools that refused to follow this unilateral decree would have risked losing funding intended to support low-income students and families. This is a very personal issue, and it warrants a public discussion that takes into account all viewpoints — including those of the students, teachers, parents, and education leaders it affects the most. I commend the Trump administration for doing what's right in withdrawing this guidance so that parents and educators can work together to provide an appropriate learning environment for all students.
