Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, issued the following statement following her appointment to the Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI):

“The Joint Select Committee on the Solvency of Multiemployer Pension Plans has an important and difficult task ahead as we seek solutions that strengthen the pension safety net and which safeguard the retirement security of American workers and retirees. Retirement security has long been one of the most important priorities for the Education and Workforce Committee, and I look forward to working with the other members of the Joint Select Committee towards achieving multiemployer pension reforms which are fiscally responsible, bipartisan, and forward-looking.”
