Today, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, and Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, along with Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety, sent a letter to Secretary Acosta applauding the Department of Labor's proposed regulation to establish factors for determining joint employer status under theFair Labor StandardsAct.
The letter reads in part:
"We agree with the Department that workers and businesses deserve and would benefit from additional direction on how to determine joint employer status under the [Fair Labor Standards Act]…We support the Department’s proposed rule, which provides American businesses and workers with a commonsense, clear standard to determine joint employer status…The rule is good news for everyone who wants to realize the American dream of owning a small business."
