Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), issued the following statement after voting in support of the bipartisan, bicameral COVID-19 relief and government funding package:
“Despite Speaker Pelosi’s previous partisan responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of leadership, today’s legislation will provide critical relief to workers, students, and families as we continue to recover from this global pandemic.
“While not perfect, this legislation includes a bipartisan solution to eliminate the financially crippling practice of surprise medical billing and provides patients with increased transparency, so they are empowered to make the best health care choices for themselves and their families. Additionally, today’s legislation will ensure that schools, both public and private, affected by COVID-19 will have the resources to educate our nation’s students. This will help ensure families’ access to educational options.
“This bipartisan, bicameral legislation will help put us on a path to return to the pre-pandemic economy that allowed millions of Americans to succeed.”
