Democrats Abandon Legislative Procedure, Pass Job Killing Apprenticeship Bill

Committee on Education and Labor Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 447, the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, job killing legislation that doubles down on an 80-year-old system and closes pathways to rewarding careers:

"Democrats have proven today that they will stop at nothing to advance their shortsighted agenda, even if it means abandoning long established House procedures that provide a proper, thorough, and bipartisan examination of legislation.

"Stifling job growth at a time when Americans are desperate to get back to work is absurd. This bill favors union bosses and increases Washington’s overreach into the private sector. This approach fails to deliver for students, workers, and job creators.

"While Democrats seek to move this ill-advised bill through the legislative process, Republicans will continue working diligently to inject innovation and flexibility into the apprenticeship model so that more Americans can get back to work."
