ICYMI: #PROUnionBosses Act Radio Tour

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 11, 2021


Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) joined radio stations in right to work states, drawing attention to the disastrous PRO Act, radical legislation that is a political gift to union bosses, undermines workers’ rights, destroys jobs, and will cost employers billions in new annual costs. In case you missed it, here are the highlights:

DONATIONS TO DEMOCRATS: "They take money from hardworking taxpayers and they spend it on their left-wing organizations like Planned Parenthood, the Clinton Foundation, and all kinds of groups like that, as well as giving $1.6 billion to Democrats who are running for office. So, it’s a self-perpetuating situation."

ON FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM: "This country is about freedom and the freedom to choose whether you want to join an organization or not but what happens is the small group of people decide they want to have a union, then they force everybody to be in the union. That’d be like forcing everybody to go to a certain church or forcing everybody to join Rotary, or Civitan or whatever, and that’s not what we’re about in this country."

THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE: "It’s a terrible bill. It takes freedom away from Americans. Americans should have the right whether to join a union or not. This is going to force people to join unions… It would stifle independent contractors, it would stifle the gig economy, it would force all these people now who create jobs for themselves to be members of unions. And that just is wrong in this country."

LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY: "It does not increase transparency and accountability for the union bosses, they are exerting political influence by demanding radical changes to national labor laws that will allow the bosses to consolidate power and coerce workers into joining the unions while they line their own pockets."

ON VIOLATING PRIVACY RIGHTS: "This is all about coercion of American workers. That is not the American way. This will force employers to give the unions all the personal information of workers they have to give them. Email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, every kind of personal information they want, so that they can go after the workers and coerce them into signing these cards."

ON UNION ENROLLMENT: "Enrollment in unions has been going down for the last thirty years. It’s at its lowest ever. Because the unions are corrupt. Workers in this country are smart enough to know that. They don’t want unions. They want the freedom to work where they want to work and the ability to do what they want to do. This bill takes that away from them."
