Democrats Advance Bill that Denies Protections for Religious Organizations

Today, Democrats advanced H.R. 1065, the Paycheck Fairness Act, which does not include a long-standing provision from the Civil Rights Act which protects religious organizations from being forced to make employment decisions that conflict with their faith. Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) said on the House floor prior to the vote: "House Republicans will not stand for discrimination of any kind, and as a mother and a grandmother, workplace protections for pregnant women are particularly important to me. |
