Foxx Presses Education Department on PHEAA Transition Plan

Today, House Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) penned a letter to Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona in response to the announcement that the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will not seek an extension of its federal student loan servicing contract.

In the letter, Foxx writes: “While this announcement raises a number of questions, my concerns rest primarily with how this will impact the 8.5 million borrowers currently being serviced by PHEAA.” Foxx continues: “Given PHEAA’s integral role in the federal student loan program, I expect the Department has a plan in place to ensure a smooth transition of PHEAA’s operations and for the borrowers they serve.”
