Democrats Pass H.R. 3992, a Bill That Will Kill Job Recruitment Efforts in the Middle of a Labor Shortage
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
November 4, 2021
Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) delivered the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3992, the so-called Protect Older Job Applicants Act, which will harm job creators, enrich trial lawyers, and gut recruitment programs in the middle of a labor shortage: “Trial lawyers are sure to have a field day with this bill, which will give them cause to go after everything from job fairs on college campuses and online job boards to apprenticeship and internship programs. This could significantly hinder Americans’ ability to become prepared for the workforce as well as their ability to find work. Our country’s strength rests in opportunity, taking that away from workers, especially in our current economic climate, will put the American Dream even further out of reach. “This bill does far more harm than good and is a very bad solution in search of a problem. H.R. 3992 was bad in theory and it will be even worse in practice.” ### |
