Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court striking down a prohibition against religious schools’ participation in a Maine tuition assistance program:

“Religious freedom and school choice had their day in court—and they emerged as victors. Today’s decision handed down by the Supreme Court affirms that prohibitions against religious schools participating in choice programs is a flagrant violation of the First Amendment. There has never been, and there will never be, a line-item veto to the Constitution. Religious exclusion has no place in education, and today’s decision is a testament to that simple fact.”
