Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) responded to Senate Democrats’ decision to vote against a Congressional Review Act resolution to nullify the Biden Department of Education’s outrageous rule gutting charter schools:
“Why are Congressional Democrats digging in their heels when it comes to a proposed rule that many, agree is bad for students? The Biden administration’s rule imposing stringent and cumbersome requirements on charter schools will result in fewer education choices for families.
“After two years of school closures, and plummeting test scores, many parents want their children out of schools run by Washington bureaucrats and teachers unions—this rule makes it harder for them to do that.
“Charter schools are a lifeline for many minorities and economically disadvantaged students. When it comes to these students many of my Democrat colleagues made their stance clear today—they chose unions over students.
“We should be working to give families more education freedom, not less. This Washington overreach has gone too far. Denying families the opportunity to pursue an education that works best for their children is wrong.”
