Foxx to DOL: Walsh Should Act Ethically as He Prepares to Skate Off
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
February 7, 2023
Today, House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) sent a letter to Solicitor of Labor Seema Nanda to verify that Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh met his ethics obligations as he sought employment with the National Hockey League Players Association.
In the letter, Foxx writes: “It has come to my attention that after serving less than two years as Secretary of Labor, Martin J. Walsh is leaving the Biden administration. According to reports from Bloomberg Law and POLITICO, the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) offered Secretary Walsh the position of executive director.” Foxx continues: “I write to confirm that Secretary Walsh is following all ethics policies and procedures required of a cabinet-level official and an employee of the Department of Labor (DOL). As the Solicitor of Labor, one of your jobs is to ensure that DOL officials follow ethics procedures when seeking employment.” Foxx concludes: “The American people deserve to know that Secretary Walsh met his ethics obligations while searching for employment outside of the federal government.” Read the full letter here. ### |
