Foxx on Senate Passage of Resolution Protecting Retirees and Biden’s Veto Announcement
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
March 1, 2023
Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed a Congressional Review Act resolution to nullify the Biden administration’s rule encouraging retirement fiduciaries to consider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors when investing and exercising shareholder rights:
“I am glad my Senate colleagues voted to block Biden’s destructive rule. As we demonstrated yesterday, the American people are not interested in sacrificing their own financial security to fund partisan, left-wing political causes. I am encouraged that two Democrat senators joined Republican efforts to protect America’s workers and retirees. “However, I am disappointed with President Biden’s announcement that, following the House and Senate passage of this resolution, he will use his first-ever presidential veto to overturn the will of the American people. If the president is willing to undermine the financial security of the very people who elected him, what will he go after next?” ### |
