Chair Bean to Hold Hearing on Learning Loss Caused by Pandemic School Closures

On Wednesday, July 26, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, chaired by Rep. Aaron Bean (R-FL), will hold a hearing titled “Generational Learning Loss: How Pandemic School Closures Hurt Students.

“Across the board—from math and reading to civics and history—student scores have hit long-term lows. Years after pandemic shutdowns went into effect, students are still reeling from this profoundly misguided decision,”Chairman Bean said“While prolonged school closures are not the only reason students have fallen behind, they are a major contributor. We must fully examine the devastating impacts of this policy in order to develop solutions and prevent anything like this from happening again.”
