WASHINGTON – On Thursday, July 27, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), will hold a hearing titled “Lowering Costs and Increasing Value for Students, Institutions, and Taxpayers.”
“America’s postsecondary education system is facing a reckoning. Outrageous costs, lackluster completion rates, and rising loan balances are pushing more Americans to question the value of a college degree. Prospective jobseekers too often walk off the commencement stage worse off financially than if they had never enrolled in the first place,” said Chairman Owens. “This hearing will examine how a market-based approach to accountability can help lower college costs, hold institutions accountable, and provide students and taxpayers with a greater return on their investment.” What: Subcommittee hearing titled “Lowering Costs and Increasing Value for Students, Institutions, and Taxpayers” When: 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 Where: 2175 Rayburn House Office Building Press: The hearing is open to the press and will be live-streamed on the Committee's YouTube page. |
