Foxx Slams Workers United for Ignoring Inquiry on Ties to Union Organizer

WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) is demanding answers from Workers United after International President Lynne Fox ignored an inquiry about Michelle Eisen’s employment with the union. In a July 17 letter to Workers United, Chairwoman Foxx requested information about Michelle Eisen’s employment and compensation history with the union to determine if she was truthful by merely referring to herself as a Starbucks barista when she testified at a Committee hearing in September 2022, or if she was being paid by Workers United at the time of her testimony.
In the letter, Foxx writes: “On July 17, 2023, the Committee on Education and the Workforce sent you a letter regarding a potential employment relationship between Michelle Eisen and Workers United when Ms. Eisen testified at a hearing before the then-Committee on Education and Labor on September 14, 2022. … The Committee requested a response by July 31, 2023, but you have failed to respond.” Foxx continues: “Workers United’s apparent decision to ignore this request is unacceptable. … In total, the letter asked just five questions. Since you have declined to respond to these basic interrogatories, the Committee is forced to request documentation from Workers United to ascertain whether Ms. Eisen was employed by Workers United at the time of the September 2022 hearing.” Foxx concludes by requesting the following documents from Workers United:
