WASHINGTON–On Wednesday, September 20, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), will hold a hearing titled “Strengthening WIOA: Improving Outcomes for Jobseekers, Employers, and Taxpayers.”
“It’s been nearly a decade since the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was enacted, and while America’s workforce is stronger because of this law, meaningful upgrades are needed to improve it. We continue to hear how employers are struggling to fill millions of open jobs—jobs that when filled could propel our economy forward,” Chairman Owens said.“We must dissect the current WIOA system, keep what works, and identify solutions for areas that are lagging in order to build a system that matches the needs of a 21st century economy.”
