Biden Admin to Throw More Taxpayer Dollars at Program With Known Child Abuse Issues

Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement in response to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposed rule for Head Start:

“Last year, an OIG report found more than a thousand incidents of child abuse, lack of supervision, or unauthorized release at Head Start centers. Today, despite Head Start refusing to address these disturbing and fundamental problems, the Biden administration is rewarding this troubled program by increasing wages and forcing taxpayers to cover the cost.

“Today’s rule mimics Biden’s playbook—ignore the problem, throw taxpayer money at it, and call it a solution. What’s worse, HHS acknowledges that this rule will create a ‘substantial cost’ for taxpayers.

“The cherry on top? The administration is bypassing Congress and the legislative process to do what it wants. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the administration actively working to undermine the Constitution.”
