WASHINGTON–Today, the House passed H.J. Res. 88, a Congressional Review Act resolution authored by Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) to overturn the Biden administration's radical student loan scheme, which experts say will cost taxpayers as much as $559 billion. Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) has been a leading critic of President Biden and Education Secretary Cardona's myriad free college schemes that will rip off American taxpayers.
Chairwoman Foxx made the following statement on the House Floor ahead of the resolution’s passage:
"The Biden administration knows that it’s so-called 'SAVE'plan is illegal, and yet, it has no problem putting its foot down on the gas pedal.
"Let’s make one thing perfectly clear: the so-called 'SAVE'plan is President Biden’s game of ruling by executive decree and pinning the tab on the taxpayer.
"America’s student loan system is broken, and this reckless, inflationary, and illegal expansion of executive authority will all but ensure it’s doomed beyond repair.
"This plan isn’t about helping borrowers, and it sure isn’t protecting taxpayers. It’s about an upcoming election and an administration dead set on using the executive pen to reshape our country. That’s the stone-cold truth of the matter."
