WASHINGTON — Tomorrow, at 10:15 a.m., the Education and the Workforce Committee will mark up the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and H.R. 443, the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act.
“The consideration of these two bills will help protect vulnerable adults and children in workplaces and in postsecondary education. The first bill, the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act, would ensure DOL personnel are provided the necessary education to detect cases of forced labor or sexual exploitation quickly and refer them promptly to appropriate law enforcement agencies for further action,” said Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC). “The second bill, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, aims to educate pregnant students of their academic rights and protections, so they feel empowered to choose the best future for themselves and their child and are supported in pursuing both motherhood and education.” What: Markup of the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act When: 10:15 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 Where: 2175 Rayburn House Office Building Press: The markup is open to the press and will be live-streamed on the Committee’s YouTube page. |
