ICYMI: Foxx Calls for Cardona’s Resignation

In Case You Missed It, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) joined Newsmax’s National Report to discuss her call for Education Secretary Cardona to resign following Jewish Insider reports that Cardona failed to acknowledge and condemn an antisemitic chant echoed on college campuses across the country. Excerpts from the interview are below:

“The American Jewish Committee has said in their glossary how to translate terms that are hate speech, and [“from the river to the sea”] is one of those…

“[Secretary Cardona is] acting like the president of Harvard and the president of UPenn and MIT, where they can’t clearly say what is hate speech or what is defined as antisemitic, and this is definitely antisemitic.

“This is on top of all the incompetence in the Department, and I think the Secretary should resign as a result of not just the statement, but everything else that he has done.

“Students should feel safe, and they should know that their secretary of education is concerned for them.”

Background:

On February 6, Secretary Cardona met with Jewish reporters. As reported by the Jewish Insider, “U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said on Tuesday that calls for genocide are 'not tolerable' but stopped short of saying whether the phrase 'from the river, to the sea, Palestine will be free' should be considered antisemitic by university administrators.”
