Foxx: Biden Administration is Limiting Affordable Health Care Options for Americans
WASHINGTON, D.C.,

WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement in response to the Biden administration’s proposed rule rescinding the Trump administration’s association health plan (AHP) rule:
"The Biden administration continues to double down on policies that will limit choice and increase health care costs for Americans. Instead of embracing common-sense policies that would allow small businesses to band together to offer coverage for their employees, the administration is rescinding a Trump-era rule which allowed for just that. Today, Americans are shouting from the rooftops about how politicians need to increase health care affordability and tackle inflation. The administration’s proposed rule turns a blind eye to the needs of Americans. "I’m proud that the House has passed legislation like H.R 2868, the Association Health Plans Act, which codifies and expands the Trump administration’s rule to increase access to AHPs. This legislation will help small businesses provide lower cost, high-quality health care, and I encourage my colleagues in the Senate to pass this critical piece of legislation immediately." BACKGROUND: An AHP is a type of group plan that allows employers to band together to purchase health coverage. Under the Trump administration’s rule, new AHPs produced savings of up to 29 percent on average while the rule was in effect. Realtor groups saw average savings of up to 50 percent. The Congressional Budget Office also predicted that 400,000 uninsured people would enroll in AHPs. ### |
