Foxx: Biden’s FY25 Budget Is a Menagerie of Failed Policies

WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement regarding the release of President Biden’s FY 2025 budget proposal:

“President Biden’s FY25 budget is not a fiscal panacea – it will make the nation keel over from shouldering more unsustainable and irresponsible debt. Under his proposal, the Departments of Education, Labor, and Health and Human Services would gobble up more taxpayer dollars without any shred of accountability to the very people who they purport to serve.

“A trimmed, fiscally sound budget is what the American people both deserve and demand – not a budget, like what the president is peddling, that treats taxpayer dollars as if they were nothing more than Monopoly money. With the imperative of delivering unfettered accountability to the American people in mind, we must chart a more fiscally judicious path than the one that the president intends to take this nation down.”

President Biden’s Funding Fiasco:

Education

  • Includes reckless proposals creating free community college and significantly increasing the Pell Grant with no accountability to ensure the degrees students are given actually yield high-quality jobs.
  • Provides free meals to the children of doctors, lawyers, and lobbyists.

Workforce

  • The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) would receive $20.8 million or 6.9 percent above the FY 2023 enacted level. This includes the hiring of 50 new NLRB bureaucrats.
  • The Department of Labor (DOL) is requesting an increase of $15 million to hire more attorneys to strengthen its litigation against employers and to continue to write regulations.
  • The NLRB, DOL, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission are seeking increased fines to be levied against employers.
