Foxx Subpoenas Acting Secretary Su Again
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
May 6, 2024
WASHINGTON – Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement regarding serving a subpoena on Department of Labor (DOL) Acting Secretary Julie Su for her failure to provide requested materials to the Committee related to DOL’s return-to-office action plan:
“Under Acting Secretary Su, the DOL has adopted a posture of blatant negligence in complying with the Committee’s oversight requests – vague answers and routine failures to provide requested materials have become the norm. The Committee’s March 6th letter to DOL requesting information on its return-to-work action plan remains unanswered – this is entirely unacceptable. Acting Secretary Su has also now ignored a request during her May 1 appearance before the full Committee that she provide a copy of DOL’s return-to-office plan, which the White House instructed each agency to prepare and submit. “As such, Acting Secretary Su must be held accountable for her own inaction. She has earned this subpoena.” In the cover letter accompanying the subpoena, Foxx writes: “On March 6, 2024, the Committee on Education and the Workforce (Committee) sent the Department of Labor (DOL) a letter continuing the Committee’s investigation of DOL’s plans for returning to regular, in-person work. On April 18, 2024, the Department provided an insufficient response that failed to address the Committee’s core request. Given this failure, the Committee has decided that issuance of a subpoena is necessary.” To read the cover letter and subpoena, click here. |
