TIME CHANGE: Committees on Natural Resources and Education & the Workforce to Hold Joint Hearing Demanding Accountability at Haskell Indian Nations University — Tomorrow at 3:15 PM

WASHINGTON — Tomorrow, July 23, at 3:15 p.m., the Committee on Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and the Committee on Education and the Workforce’s Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), will hold a joint hearing titled “Investigating How the Biden Administration Ignored Cries for Help from Students at Haskell Indian Nations University.”

“Continued reports of widespread misconduct involving Haskell Indian Nations University and the Department of Interior are deeply concerning. Despite months of repeated appeals by students, government officials including Secretary Haaland appear to have ignored their complaints or take them seriously. Allegations of campus misconduct at HINU, including sexual assault, must never be disregarded and the students deserve better from the federal government and the Bureau of Indian Education,” stated Chairman Gosar.

“Misconduct and abuse at Haskell Indian Nations University has been ignored for far too long and impacted far too many, all while there’s been no action from the Biden administration,” said Chairman Owens. “Together with my colleagues on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, we’ll fight for accountability and justice for all those impacted. This is not an issue that will be swept under the rug.”
