Chair Foxx Reacts to Latest Student Loan Debt Scheme Announcement
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
December 20, 2024
In response to the U.S. Department of Education’s attempt to go back on its promise to students across the country, Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement: “Liars always get caught in the end, and today’s the end for the Biden administration and its illegal student loan schemes. Instead of being honest with the American people from the beginning, Secretary Cardona, Vice President Harris, and President Biden have tried time and again to foist student loan debt onto hardworking taxpayers. The result? A broken student loan program and false hope for millions of borrowers. Thankfully, on January 20th, Americans will be able to trust the information that’s coming from the White House again.” BACKGROUND: These Biden-Harris administration policies attempted to shift student loan debt unilaterally from those who knowingly took on the loans to the taxpayers in order to bribe the public into voting for him. The rules came in addition to the administration’s income-driven repayment (IDR) scheme. |
