Walberg Continues Investigation into MN Fraud in Federal Nutrition Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
February 23, 2026
Today, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) sent a letter to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz following the Committee’s earlier investigation into the state’s failure to prevent fraud in two federal nutrition programs.
In the letter, Chairman Walberg writes: “The U.S. House Committee on Education and Workforce (Committee) continues an investigation into the massive fraud perpetrated by the nonprofit Feeding Our Future (FOF), its principals, and other individuals. Federal prosecutors have described the scheme as ‘not just criminal, but depraved and brazen.’ The Committee writes to reiterate key requests made in its earlier correspondence to which you have as yet failed to provide full or complete responses.” The letter continues: “Specifically, on September 4, 2024, former Chairwoman Virginia Foxx transmitted a subpoena and accompanying subpoena schedule consisting of 14 itemized requests, all relating to the operation of CACFP and SFSP in Minnesota. On September 18, 2024, Minnesota Solicitor General Liz Kramer (Solicitor) responded on your behalf to the Committee’s subpoena…the response letter and documents failed to fully or completely respond to the subpoena.” Chairman Walberg concludes: “The programs provide meals to eligible children and adults through approved local providers and involve the federal government partnering with designated state agencies…Your responses to the subpoena lack clarity and appear designed to evade the requests.” Read the full letter here. ### |
