Chair Walberg Statement on President Trump’s 2026 State of the Union
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
February 24, 2026
Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) issued the following statement ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union Address:
“Over the past year, President Trump has made good on his promises to revolutionize American education and empower the American workforce. The Trump administration took bold action to return education to the states and put students, parents, and teachers first—not Washington bureaucrats. This administration has also made enormous strides to protect women and girls in sports, strengthen school choice, and address antisemitism on our college campuses. “Additionally, we passed landmark legislation in the Working Families Tax Cuts to drive down college costs and expand upskilling opportunities for Americans looking to get the skills they need to thrive in the modern workforce. Together, congressional Republicans and the Trump administration are enacting common-sense, pro-growth policies that are creating jobs and helping our economy thrive. We’re rooting out radical ESG policies that put left-wing politics over your retirement security while enhancing flexibility for workers and independent contractors. “The last year has been historic under President Trump’s leadership. Together, my Republican colleagues and I will continue our work alongside the Trump administration to promote policies that lower costs and expand opportunities for American students, families, and workers.” ### |
