Walberg Praises Trump Plan to Simplify Student Aid and Better Serve Students and Families

Today, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) issued the following statement after the Education Department announced its federal student aid partnership with the Treasury Department:

"This a smart, practical change. Treasury already handles large, complex financial systems, so it’s well positioned to manage student aid more efficiently and responsibly. This shift will simplify how aid is delivered, reduce delays, and make better use of taxpayer dollars. Most importantly, it will make the process easier and more reliable for students and families who depend on this support.

"We’ve already made strong progress on improving higher education and lowering costs through the Working Families Tax Cuts. Today’s announcement builds on that effort by cutting government bloat and fixing our broken student loan system. Once again, the Trump administration is putting students and borrowers first—not bureaucrats."
