Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s May jobs report: 

“Today's employment report is welcome news for American workers, families, and job creators. The U.S. economy added 172,000 jobs in May, significantly outperforming expectations and demonstrating the continued strength and resilience of the American workforce. Simply put, today's report is proof that when government gets out of the way, businesses grow, jobs are created, and American workers benefit.

"By promoting economic freedom, expanding opportunity, and equipping workers with the skills they need to succeed, we can build on today's positive momentum and ensure long-term prosperity for all Americans."
