Committee Leaders Applaud Passage of Bill to Rein in NLRB

H.R. 2587 first part of House Republican Plan for America's Job Creators

The U.S. House of Representatives today approved a key component of the House Republican Plan for America's Job Creators. Introduced by Representative Tim Scott (R-SC), the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587)prevents the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from dictating where a private business can create jobs. H.R. 2587 received bipartisan support in a vote of 238 to 186.

"Today, the House of Representatives sent a strong message to the American people: We will not stand by while the NLRB destroys jobs and wreaks havoc on our economy," said Chairman John Kline (R-MN). "The president has had many opportunities to hold this activist board accountable, but he has failed to do so. No government board should tell a private employer where to open a business and hire workers. This is the first in a series of House Republican efforts to reduce regulatory burdens facing employers and help free them to create new opportunities for American workers. I urge the Senate to approve this critical jobs bill without delay."

“With sluggish job growth and over 14 million unemployed, this nation cannot afford more job-killing regulations," said Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN), chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. "Businesses and families are overregulated, and the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) attack on The Boeing Company is another example of this. This important legislation will prohibit the NLRB from dictating where a private business can and cannot locate employment."
