Kline Statement on June Jobs Report

Rep. John Kline (R-MN), the U.S. House Education and Labor Committee’s senior Republican member, issued the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced a loss of 125,000 jobs in June:

“The Obama administration’s ‘recovery summer’ is off to a disappointing start, with predictable job losses emerging after the temporary bloat of government Census workers begins to disappear. Absent those inflated hiring figures, we’re left with weak private sector job creation that falls far short of what is needed for a true economic recovery. If we continue on the course Democrats have set for the nation, it will take more than six years just to get back the jobs lost since the start of the recession.

"After a year and a half of wasteful government spending, the American people are left with more than $13 trillion in debt and without the jobs they were promised. The Democratic agenda is leaving a cloud of uncertainty over the nation and forcing job creators to remain on the sidelines. Last night’s cynical vote to ‘deem’ higher federal spending levels without actually passing a budget is emblematic of a Democrat-controlled Washington and their refusal to lead. The American people deserve better.”
