U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-MN) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor reported the unemployment rate in March was 8.8 percent:
"Our economy is showing signs of progress, but this will not continue unless Washington addresses our nation’s fiscal crisis. Continuing to delay action on a credible plan to cut spending could jeopardize the future strength of businesses and the workforce. After more than 40 days of stalling, Senate Democrats still refuse to produce a budget plan that reins in federal spending and reduces the deficit. The American people are doing more with less, and the federal government must do the same. It is time Democrats abandoned their failed and reckless policies of debt and uncertainty, and joined Republicans in enacting a long-term path to growth and prosperity."
